Inspired by a 1940s American-schoolhouse-style chair, we found this version at an Antique fair in France. Simon was handcrafted in Italy and features vertical slat backs with hints of unexpected styling in the cabriole leg. Our artisan endeavored to develop a new, heavily textured finish for Simon. In a search that led him off the coast of Italy, he traveled far and wide to find exactly the right sponge with which to create this exceptional finish, making Simon an instant Arhaus classic.
Customize your seat from more than 75 Arhaus dining fabrics.
Black: Simon features an entirely hand-painted textured finish that begins with a warm brown walnut stain. The chair is then sponged in a rich warm black for a layered, aged look. Lacquer is added for protection and subtle sheen.
Grey: Entirely hand-painted, this textured finish hovers perfectly on the line between grey and green. Areas of distressing warm browns and cream create a truly unique Arhaus finish. Lacquer is added for protection and subtle sheen.
The solid beech frame is built by hand and reinforced and corner blocked for added support.
Joined using mortise and tenon construction, joints are corner blocked for strength and stability.
Dust wood with a soft, dry cloth and periodically use Guardsman® Wood Polish.
Spills should be removed immediately with a damp cloth.
Always avoid exposure to direct sunlight or heat (e.g. by placing it in front of a radiator) as this can cause cracking and potential fading of the wood; a minimum 30cm clearance from heat sources is advised.
Do not drag piece(s) across the floor as this will cause damage or weaken joints.
Dropping furniture onto corners or feet will cause damage.
Leaning backwards on two legs of a chair may weaken joints.
Toys, buckles and heels will scratch furnishings—try to prevent these objects from coming into contact with your piece(s).
