As a photographer, Jadan Huter captures the beauty in quiet moments, barren landscapes, overseas adventures, and America in its raw form. As a designer, she strives to bring a sense of calm and presence to spaces, allowing materials, textures, and light to do most of the talking.
“Design, to me, is always shaped by the way I experience the world—through travel, quiet details, and how people live in a space,” says Huter.
She approached designing the outdoor space of actor, producer, and director Riley Keough’s home with a clear vision: to create a serene, grounded space deeply connected to its surroundings.
“With Riley in mind, I was especially inspired by the European lifestyle — eating outside, long meals, creating a space for gatherings and stillness alike. The layout naturally invites you to dine, lounge, sunbathe, and swim—spend the day. There’s a relaxed rhythm to it that mirrors the way Riley lives her life—unhurried, comfortable, and always open to the outdoors.”
Comfort For Making Connections
Huter knew pieces from Arhaus’ Outdoor Collection would capture her vision perfectly. The silhouettes she selected effortlessly complemented Keough’s garden with lasting beauty and welcoming comfort. These attributes were essential for every occasion—quiet moments alone, casual gatherings by the pool, or long, lingering dinners with friends.
“There’s something so special about gathering under the trees with good food and conversation—no rush, no agenda, just connection. That kind of memory-making is always at the heart of how I design, and this space has already become a backdrop for that kind of living.”
Huter didn’t want pieces that were “too polished or trendy.” Instead, she opted for objects and furniture that felt timeless, rooted, lived-in, and built to last. Her palette was inspired by materials found in nature — clay, sand, stone, and driftwood.
New possibilities for entertaining
“Teak wood conveys warmth, creating a space where you’d want to enjoy slow mornings and long afternoons outdoors. The marbled dining and coffee tables added a softer, more feminine touch while still maintaining the weight and durability I seek in foundational pieces. The furniture needed to complement, not contrast with, the garden’s natural beauty — the greenery, the trees, the dappled light. Arhaus helped us achieve that grounded feeling.”
Huter wanted to incorporate outdoor silhouettes that would become part of Keough’s day-to-day life. She has a deep affinity for the Canyon Seating Collection (specifically the Outdoor Teak Chaises and Double Chaise) because it has created new possibilities for how Keough can utilize her garden for entertaining.
“When you have a place outdoors that’s just as comfortable, if not more so, than a cozy living room, it changes your rhythm. You spend more time outside, soaking up the sun, listening to the trees move in the wind, and being more present. That’s the beauty of living in California, and these pieces really support that lifestyle.”
