For Today & Tomorrow: Reflecting on 2023

As a brand founded on sustainable and charitable beliefs, we plan our year around creating opportunities to give back to our communities near and far. As 2023 draws to a close, we are taking a moment to reflect on—and be grateful for—all of the things we were able to accomplish together, thanks to the support of our clients, customers, and friends.

This year, Arhaus launched our biggest and most meaningful initiative ever—pledging $10 million to support The Nature Conservancy in its efforts to protect the critical rainforests of Borneo, Indonesia. These incredible rainforests are some of the most biodiverse and species-rich in the world, and we are honored to join TNC as it works alongside YKAN, its local Indonesian affiliate, to embark on an ambitious project that will help pave a new path for sustainable forestry. We cannot wait to share more TNC updates with you in 2024.

We also worked toward our pledge of planting one million trees. Through our partner American Forests, the nation’s oldest conservation organization, we donated 100,000 trees in 2023 to benefit water, wildlife, people, and climate, helping to create a greener future for us all.

In addition, Arhaus continued our support of Habitat for Humanity in its mission to build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter in our communities, and we proudly donated furniture and décor to Habitat for Humanity ReStore locations across the country. We encourage our customers to donate their new and gently used furniture, appliances, home goods, and building materials to their local ReStore locations, too, because we believe these items don’t belong in landfills.

Through our volunteering initiative, Arhaus employees have been able to give back to our local communities, volunteering their time at food banks that serve our neighbors in need, as well as at Habitat for Humanity jobsites and recycling collection centers.

This year, Arhaus also supported Global Dental Relief as it brought vital dental care to more than 23,000 children in seven countries, including Cambodia, Nepal, Guatemala, and the United States. Every year, GDR sends volunteer teams of dental professionals and helpers to impoverished areas around the world, setting up free clinics to provide exams, cleanings, fillings, fluoride treatments, and extractions to children throughout each region. “Together, we are making a measurable difference in every clinic,” says Kim Troggio, Director of Global Dental Relief. “We are getting the opportunity to change lives.”

And, as of this year, more than 80 boys and girls have found a safe and loving place to live, learn, and build their futures at the Friends of Arhaus Children’s Home in the Solukhumbu district of Nepal. The children who reside in the home attend classes, participate in sports and activities, and work together to share responsibilities like cooking and cleaning. “Our goal has always been to create a beautiful environment full of peace, love, brotherhood, and sisterhood,” says Karma Sherpa, Executive Director and Co-Founder of The Small World, our nonprofit charitable partner in Nepal. Plus, Arhaus’ support in 2023 helped to provide educational sponsorships and mentoring programs to more than 700 additional children and their families in five different communities in the region.

We are forever grateful for the clients, customers, and friends who make our support of these organizations possible. Thank you, as always, for welcoming Arhaus into your home.
