Artisan-crafted teak finishes are hand-applied using a wire brush to subtly distress the wood followed by staining the pigment onto the surface.
Small imperfections may expose underlying teak wood. If left uncovered, finishes will gradually fade and acquire a beautiful silvery-grey patina (typical of untreated teak wood), adding unique character to your piece.
Teak hardwood contains natural oils that repel insects, prevent drying, and resist moisture. Teak is also resistant to fungal decay, rotting, and warping due to temperature or humidity.
For natural teak pieces, the teak’s natural oils cause a natural occurrence called oil surfacing, in which teak oil will pool on the surfaces of new or very young natural teak, almost like a watermark pattern of discoloration. We recommend rinsing your teak furniture with a garden hose prior to first use.
